For All Mothers+ and Joie partner to send children to the Olympic Games so they can witness their Team USA moms compete on the world stage.
The Paris 2024 Olympic Games were heralded as the first in history to achieve full gender parity. Next year’s Winter Games are set to become the most gender-balanced ever, with a record 47% women competitors. The rise in equity is also raising the number of parenting athletes – a direct result of For All Mothers+’ advocacy work to advance policies, education, and healthcare for professional athletes navigating pregnancy and postpartum careers.
Professional athletes are starting to welcome motherhood as an empowering layer to their identity, versus being forced to accept early retirement as a result of the economic, social, and health disadvantages they face when they have children – known as the Motherhood Penalty.
Programs like the “Bring the Babies” Changemaker Grants make it easier for Team USA moms to bring their children with them to the Winter Games by bridging the financial gap created by multiplying essential travel expenses (ex. airfare, lodging, and childcare).
Moms should be able to choose if they want to bring their nursing babies or children to The Games, and their children should be able to watch their amazing mothers compete on the world’s largest stage!
These $5,000 grants were made possible by Joie’s generous contribution, with special thanks to our community ( Wild Paper Co., TWENTYSIXDIAMOND, Yau Lee of Nachlis | Cohade | Lopez-Whitaker, LLP, and individual donors) for taking action and fundraising to award a fifth grant.
As more rosters are released for the remaining Olympic and Paralympic teams, we hope to provide grants to additional Team USA moms. Help us empower all Team USA moms to bring the babies to the Winter Games if they choose!
