For All Mothers+ Names Dr. Libby Bunker as Managing Director
Public & global health leader, researcher, advocate, runner, and mother brings unique expertise to the growing maternal equity movement
BERKELEY, Calif., June 9, 2026 – For All Mothers+, a nonprofit working at the intersection of motherhood and sports to build an equitable society for all mothers, announced today that Dr. Libby Bunker, DrPH, MPH, has been appointed managing director as of May 1. This hire marks a significant step in the organization’s continued growth and extensive effort to eliminate the Motherhood Penalty through policy advocacy, grants, research, and storytelling around mothers in sports.
As managing director, Bunker will lead fundraising, strategic partnerships, and external growth initiatives to help expand the organization’s impact and sustainability through the L.A. 2028 Summer Olympic & Paralympic Games and beyond. She will also play a key role in scaling programs that make sports and physical activity more accessible for mothers, including affordable childcare, lactation accommodations, family-friendly policies, research, advocacy, and community-building opportunities.
“Libby brings a powerful combination of public health expertise, systems-level thinking, and lived experience as a mother and an athlete to our organization,” said Alysia Montaño, founder and president of For All Mothers+. “Through her research and experience, Libby has developed a deep understanding of the structural barriers mothers face and the transformative power of community-driven solutions, and we look forward to her leadership in helping us facilitate broader changes in policy.”
“Finding an organization that truly aligns with me—as a professional, a mother, a researcher, a public health champion, and a runner—is what I would consider a ‘unicorn’ opportunity,” said Libby Bunker, managing director of For All Mothers+. “I’m deeply grateful to join such a dynamic team and look forward to immersing myself in this meaningful work of bringing maternity equity to mothers everywhere.
Bunker joins For All Mothers+ after a career dedicated to advancing health equity and human rights through organizations such as Operation Smile and Six Dimensions. Over the course of a decade, she has traveled to more than 30 countries and collaborated with partners across nearly 40 countries to support global health initiatives focused on access to care and strengthening health systems for children and mothers. Her work has been driven by the fundamental belief that health is a human right and lasting change requires addressing the systems that create these inequities.
Most recently, Bunker earned her Doctor of Public Health degree from John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, with a concentration in Health Equity and Social Justice. Her doctoral research examined Black maternal health experiences in Mississippi through a community-centered lens, exploring how structural barriers and contemporary manifestations of racism shape maternal health experience and outcomes. While pursuing her doctorate degree, Bunker also delivered all three of her children. In 2027, Bunker will continue her academic work as a part of the Loyola University Chicago’s Global Health Department, where she will be teaching a course on the topic of Global Maternal and Child Health.
A lifelong runner, Bunker understands firsthand the power of sports as a tool for health, identity, and empowerment. She recently relocated from Virginia Beach, where she supported the opening of a non-profit Montessori School, to Key West, Florida.
